Grow Greene County seeking board members

The Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation is the Qualified Sponsoring Organization (QSO) holding the gaming license for Wild Rose Jefferson Casino & Resort. It is directly involved with the grant awards of the organization as well as other duties.

The Grow Greene County board is comprised of board members who reside around Greene County. Two of the original board members will be terming out in September of 2024. Lori Mannel of the Scranton area and Rick Morain of Jefferson will be replaced with people who can represent these areas. These positions would be eligible to serve two, three-year terms.

A job description of duties and initial local application is available on the organization’s website www.growgreenecounty.org under About Us; Grow Greene County Board.  The application for the two open board positions will be due by Monday, April 8.  This application can be downloaded and emailed to growgreenecounty@gmail.com or submitted online.

The current directors in April will determine the two potential board members who would be eligible to move forward in the process.  The required Class A Background Check for Non-Profit Board Members through the DCI could take several months to complete. The timeline is to install the new board members is at the annual meeting in September.

The current volunteer board members were first selected in the fall of 2015 when the casino opened in Jefferson.  Many of these directors were involved in the referendum vote held in 2013 in Greene County and the vote of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission prior to the casino opening. Each board member completed a Class A Background Check through the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) before starting their terms. Recently, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has set two, three-year terms as the term limit for the QSO Non-Profit Boards moving forward.

The current Grow Greene County Board will term out in the next three years, so eventually all members will be replaced. Those interested in any of the positions could submit the initial local application at any time.

Those interested may reach out to any of the current board members with questions.
